I am interested in what others do about weighing themselves, especially if you are trying to lose weight. There is the Bob Greene theory of weighing only once each week, there are some who weigh every day. I don't want to be crazy, but I feel if i weigh only once a week, I mess up and gain a pound or so. anyone?

I weigh myself once a week-however I am not trying to lose weight-just to make sure I maintain my current weight. If I see the scale go up I know I need to run more, eat less or both

If I were trying to lose weight, I would do the same. To weigh myself everyday would drive me nuts because weight can fluctuate day to day. Just MHO.

I weigh myself every morning. If I gain a pound the sooner I know it the sooner I can get rid of it.

I don't even own a scale. My clothes tell me if I am gaining or losing.

if your trying to lose weight, id stay away from the scale for a week or two and continue to work out/eat right. Especially if one has just started a regimen..it takes the body a while to adjust to the new lifestyle. I might even go for a month. the first thing you notice when you lose is other people will notice before you do.

Once a week. That's often enough for me to stay on track and catch a small gain before it turns into a big gain.

It would be interesting to know how often people weigh themselves versus how close they are to their ideal weight? I weigh myself everyday and am thin (5'9"- 139 lbs). I obsess about weight somewhat to stay thin. That's why I weigh everyday. Anyone else?

I run about 40 miles a week and lift and do yoga and am in what I believe to be very good shape- 5'8 and around 135-140 and I only weigh myself once a week. I do not obsess about my weight- I run, eat right and use my weekly weigh ins and how I look to keep me honest. For years I weighed 117 and obsessed about it and looking back I was too skinny. Then I gained some weight. Then I lost it and for me I think I look and feel the best around 135-140.

I obsess about my weights..weightlifting that is-lol im 5-6 and weigh 225, according to "ideal" weight like on the bmi index i am 65lbs over, but for those of us who lift you cant go by the bmi chart cause even the ones that allow a waist size wont compute i have a 32 waist-lol
