$58 for coated 20lb dumbbells? If this is exorbitant then where can I get dumbbells for normal rates?

Normal. $1-2/lbs has sort of been the market rate for ages (pre-covid) It was always tough to find weights towards the lower end of that range at $1/lb even before. Free shipping and the coating, good price if you want the coating.

Used was always the best route. With gyms opening up, you might take a look on the used market and garage sales although I suspect there won't be much yet. Aside from 45 pound plates I've never spent more than 50 cents/lb for weights. But then I wouldn't waste a lot of time. Locally on CL everything is still around $2+ per pound on the used market. Garage sales are the way to go IMO. Craigslist is too many eyeballs. Mostly it's overpriced junk and the actual good deals get snapped up quick.

Fitness equipment has not been priced at "normal rates" since March 2020.

I just looked on Craigslist here, and there is a single 20lb dumbbell for $20. I would suggest looking there.

I'll add that coated dumbbells were always more expensive and bare metal dumbbells in my experience. I bought my two, bare metal 30 lbs dumbbells pre-pandemic for $1 a lbs. This thread is got me curious as to what they are going for in the area now.

Now is a good time to buy equipment, IMHO. Those people who had quit or paused their gym memberships are starting to come back after being vaccinated and they are selling their stuff online.

Not a bad price. I paid about $3/lb for a full set of dumbells late last year. Cost a fortune, but they last forever.

That is high. One can use the Camel Camel website to chart Amazon historical prices.

https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/...context=search

Walmart has 20lb. ones on their website today for 22.96 each. Maybe one could find a better deal in person at a Walmart.

Google shopping's link has that price, but if you click on through to Walmart it's actually $54.50. And that's for one dumbbell instead of two. Why? Walmart is out of stock and it's being sold by a scalping third-party seller instead, at least in my geographical area. YMMV depending on location. Now the 10 and 35 pound ones are in stock and sold by Walmart. For those sold by Walmart, it's a better price. Walmart often has better prices than Amazon.

And as your camel link shows, shade under $57 in 2018 and now $59. You had the dip where it fluctuated between $40-57 before settling at $47. Not really much history to go off, but I'd call that more of a sale price while $54-60 is the "normal" range over the November 2018 to present history.

It $22.96 at Walmart for a 20 lb dumbbell with free shipping over $35. So a pair would be $45.92.

"Sold and shipped by Walmart". I always avoid 3rd party Walmart sellers.

Look somewhere besides Amazon. Amazon is not the cheapest place. Facebook Marketplace is a good place to find low cost used equipment. Ebay also. The cheapest time of the year to buy is about February.
