Is 5'6" for a 16 year old guy considered really short?

dunno. But my dh is 5'6" and he's turning 42 this year. He's the perfect height for me (I'm 5'2", almost). I think it's all relative. I also think you're as tall as you act.

All my brothers were around that height or a little shorter until after they graduated from high school. They are now all 5'10" to 6". Maybe just a late bloomer like them.

Many guys are not done growing until age 20. I had a friend who was around 5'10" freshman year of college, then came back after summer at 6'2".
My brothers never grew that tall, though. However, they are both happily married. I agree, it's not how tall you are, but what you do with what you've got.

No. It's not really short for you- you have plenty of time to hit serious growth spurts.

I agree with others in that many people stop growing around the age of 20 or so. I grew about an inch after 16... but that's just me. I'm 5'9 though so I don't care

Height is over-rated anyway. The media would have everyone believe that tall guys get all the ladies, higher paying jobs, and move up the corporate and social ladder easier. In my life, those things haven't been true. Attitude/Personality are much more important in the grand scheme of things. You'll feel better about yourself if you do not obsess over your height. It's mostly genetic mixed with some environmental influencers so it's pretty much out of your control.

Ironically the tallest people I know have each at one time or another said they wish they were shorter.

I'm 5'6 1/2 (see, you have to add that 1/2) and I'm 23 years old.

It's to blame on my streamlined Irish heritage--great grandfather was 4'11, grandmother was 4'10, Mom is 5'1. I'm happy to be as tall as I am. I'm not ashamed of it--I act much taller, if that makes any sense. People don't tend to make fun about it because they know what they'll get in return--and it ain't pretty.

At 16, the least of my worries was my height, haha. You've got plenty of other things to deal with at your age, I'm sure, so don't give a ****. Either that, or invest in some boots if you care that much.

Haha, yeah, especially if you're 6'4 but look like the arse end of a horse. You can be as tall as you want, but if you look like Goofy, the chicks aren't going to be flocking anytime soon.
