I read it. I dont know if they are setting up parents to fail.

Its not good to eat any of that stuff for just what it is. Fried.
Maybe its just natural selection.

I know I have gotten my boys away from fried foods. But I do remember not being able to drive pass the golden arches without hearing "french fries, mom."

I think alot it is to blame on lack of activity on the childrens part too..Im sure all those happy meals I ate as a kid and those frozen pot pies and always save pizzas my grandma would cook would have really took their toll on me, if i had eaten and then did nothing for the rest of the day except getting on the net and playing video games, instead we were outside riding our bikes, playing basketball, etc. just my 02. Way back in the early 80s i dont remember there being ANY obese kids in my class. now its completly different when I visit my childrens school.

We live in WV (the 6th fattest state in a resent poll) and recess only goes up to 4th grade. However, PE seems to be an important part of middle school. They do test the kids on pushups, situps and chinups. I would like to see them add an eight minute mile into the mix.

But think about it. As a kids you most likely run all day playing without even thinking about it. How many miles do you think a primary school kid puts in during recess?

Here in NM we have PE 2 days a week and 2 or 3 recesses. Once they get to middle school they have to take PE as a class daily as well as in high school. The only way you get out of it is if you are in band.

We don't eat out very often so it is rare that my kids get a happy meal. You never know if the person preparing your food washed their hands and I just prefer not to risk it. I enjoy cooking so I do, fortunately my body has always rebelled when I ate to much fat so I am careful how I cook.
