Does anyone else have to do a big mental thing with yourself to get yourself to the gym?!! Some day's I do. What do you all do to motivate yourselves?

I am more motivated to do it in the morning then, work all day long and think about how I need to go to the gym or go running. I get home and end up not doing it. If someone goes with me I am more motivated than on my own

I always look at myself when I get out of the shower. If I look good, Im motivated to workout even harder. If I look flabby, soft, or not like I want to look, It motivates me to go and workout like a madman.

I bought all new clothes in my new smaller size. I can't afford to go back and buy them in larger sizes. That's all the motivation I need.

I have it written on a datebook the workout(s) I want to do that day. When I do them, I feel great and I accomplished something and that makes me want to do more.
When I don't do them, because maybe something came up or like I injured myself a few days ago and couldn't really do anything for a few days, I felt sluggish.
Soooo, the answer to the question would be to schedule the workouts. It's motivation to me after the workout. My mood and energy level are great.

Look in the mirror---I mean--really look at your entire body. If that doesn't motivate you, nothing will.
I looked, I saw my mother's arms, torso....I lost 20 lbs, started doing pushups and crunches and I look great! I look like a daughter again--not MY mom! (God love her--she's gorgeous, but she's 73!)

I'm probably weird but what works for me is the progress I see......when you work out consistently and put so much effort and time into something you will see results, no matter what it is. For me, seeing and feeling those results make me want to never stop working out....I’ve been in gyms since I was a toddler so it's more of a lifestyle for me but nothing is a better motivator than seeing results.....you feel good, you look good, you have more energy......and your not about to let anything ruin that or cause a lack of focus.

Excellent. I feel the exact same way. When I start seeing results, it really makes me want to go more. Now its just a habit since Ive been working out all these years.

I also just really enjoy going to the gym. Its one of my three top places to go to enjoy myself (Borders and Starbucks are the others).

OP, it helps if you schedule a few sessions with a personal trainer. You'll be motivated because you paid for the lessons, and because someone will be waiting for you at a specific time. Once you get the hang of it, and see results motivation is easy.

Motivation is great, but you really need to convince yourself that workouts should be a part of your lifestyle. I don't feel motivated each and every time I go to the gym, but I know in my mind, I have already made up my mind a long time ago, that I HAVE TO go to the gym or just get severely out of shape.

Don't make it a daily contest. Make up your mind and stick to it. It's almost like saving money every week in a 401-k or something similar. Do you hold onto the check with both hands deciding "Should i do it?" No. You "just do it." lol

It's almost like a job to me. I HAVE to go. ILOVE it most of the time, but the days I don't feel like it, I sort of have no choice. After the workout, I feel much better and I'm always glad I did it. good luck.
