I have been having terrible hamstring cramps/charlie horse. It happens while lying down and bending my knee to my chest. If I keep it there too long, it happens.

It does not happen if I am standing up and raising the knee.

Generally ride 7-10 miles per day on a bike at the gym. Stair stepper for about 20 minutes. Work my legs out about once per week.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I drink at least a half gallon of water per day. 2 bananas per day.

Thanks for any help.

I have been trying to stetch them out. It is on the INSIDE of the hamstrings. I can palm the floor when leaning over. Maybe I need to concentrate on doing a split, facing forward and spreading my legs apart as much as I can???

Let me say, though. It is excruciating.

What do you mean the INSIDE? Maybe you need to do butterfly stretches.

Try a calcium supplement, like TUMS. I get bad foot cramps at night but they seem to be better when I take calcium.

You might want to check with your Dr. Something else may be causing the cramps.
