Just curious to see what most people on this forum prefer. For myself, the thought of doing Cardio exhausts me just thinking of doing it. I much rather do weight training and to me it's more enjoyable. Which is more effective though, cardio or weight training?
I am a cardio junkie. I hate the weight room but know it is a necessary evil. I would much rather run or do the elliptical than weight train. Weights are just boring, and if my heart is not pumping and I am not drenched in sweat, I don't feel like I got a good enough workout. I know I can get there with weights, but I just don't enjoy it as much...

I dont think I have a preference because they are both equally important in health and fitness. You cant really do one without the other and expect to be in good shape.
I do however, prefer to do my cardio (usually a run or extended jump rope session) first thing in the morning. I feel that I get the best results that way.
As far as which is "more effective" that really depends on what your specific goals are. Again, as Ive said before, you need to do BOTH.
Yeah, of course they're both essential to good health, but I've always been more of a cardio guy, maybe because I ran track in h.s. and college and also because my build (6-2, 175 lbs.) is just better suited for a runner or swimmer than a weightlifter. And I'm a better runner than I am a weightlifter, too! LOL. Also, I never get the endorphin rush ("runner's high") from resisance training like I do from cardio.
For my goals, weight training is much more effective. So, I prefer weight training to cardio. I TRY to get 3 days of cardio in a week (not more than 30 minutes per day) but I have a toddler and I always choose to do a weight session and skip the cardio. I have seen a tremendous difference in my body since I started lifting weights. I will never go back to doing only cardio. Cardio kept me thin but it did not keep my body tight and firm.
I like to weight train. I get a little nervous walking into the room, because most times I'm the only woman. It's like walking into the lion's den. : }
