I am 49 years old and started running in Sept on the Couch to 5k program. I am only 5'3, so I have short little legs, lol! Ran my first 5k in Nov and thought I was going to die!!! That one, my goal was just to finish, and hopefully run it in less than 33 minutes. I ran it in 28:30, so was feeling pretty proud of myself.

My goal for this one was to come in under 28:00. My husband, who is 11 years younger than me and also an active duty, fit soldier, took off like a shot. I came around the corner at about 1.5k and caught up with and then passed him! My official time was 24:14 !!! Yeah, I beat my hubby!!!

Man, I feel so dang good about now! Running does wonders for the mind and body!!!

Great news and very inspiring!!!

5k will definitely be my 2011 challenge; I am still forging with the 1,000 mile walk for this year. I should definitely have my endurance built up by then to embark on the 5k challenge and maybe even shoot for a half a marathon later in 2011, too.
