The hourglass figure is pretty much perfect, to me, and that requires that there is an inward curve at the waist, and a proportional outward curve at the hips and bustline and broader shoulders that balance out the hip span and contrast with a nipped-in waistline. I'm not much interested in there being no significant difference from shoulder to waist to hip (or, worse, broad shoulders that taper down to a narrow hip span...very guy-like). None of this has anything to do with being overweight or underweight, it's just a matter of figure shape and personal taste.

Some might say "well, just gain some weight" but people put weight on in different places. Unfortunately, my weight never goes to my hip or butts. Ugh, I hate my body.
Love it because it's yours and no one else's.

Yeah, that "look" promoted by tv and the fashion industry originated strictly as a human coat hanger to show and sell garments. Now it's morphed into some kind of artificial look capable only for a Barbie doll or for a naturally narrow woman with monstrous breast implants. UGH!

Annika08, you are so right!! I have narrow hips and I am in no way skinny. No woman wants narrow hips, i personally would like to have curvy luscious hips, but we are not all so lucky. When i put on weight it goes to my belly, arms, and boobs...never to my butt or my hips. It is what it is.

Some women have slim hips, some have an hourglass, some have something in between. Different men are attracted to different shapes and sizes...there is no "right answer". I think more importantly, people should strive to be as healthy as they can be and learn to play up their best attributes. There are lots of ways to manipulate your outfit to accentuate or downplay whatever you want to.
"Do what you want" "It's your body" "Take what you get" "Like what you get"

We're human... not emotionless robots. We strive to be better. Even if it's better than the next person. Competition keeps this world sane. What if everyone in the world was okay with everything that was handed to them? What a world that would be.

I hate when people respond to others thread questions with, "Do what you want"... well, that person is obviously asking for a reason - whether it's for ideas or inspiration, even to take some other opinion.

Why are you people even on these forums?

There's nothing "wrong" with the body you have. Celebrate it, cherish it, care for it, nurture it, love it. Be good to it and it will be good to you.

Quit reading "women's" magazines and fashion magazine and anything else that tells you that

  1. there is a certain way you should look
  2. there is something wrong with every square inch of your body
  3. there exists a product to improve what's wrong
  4. you need a different product to fix what's wrong with each square inch of your body
  5. there is something wrong with you if you feel no need to buy these products

This is all marketing hype that is designed to part you from your money.

Beauty comes in many different shapes and sizes. Celebrate the one that you are.
Right. Hips aren't fashion - it's a matter of opinion... it's not a 'trending' item in fashion...

Negative.

Well, I guess it's my opinion.

Anyways, women in America don't know what fashion is.

(I say this because, women in America, in general, do not dress well)

I've always thought this weird from the U.S. "man's " perspective lately. Ever notice how the trend in the past 10+ years in most US magazines is the trend of big boobs but slender/no hips? Kinda coincides with all the male pedophilia situations(albeit boys or girls). Youngish boy body with big implanted boobs. I KNOW I'm not the first to recognize this.

In a way I think the influx of black stars pushing/appreciating some meat/curves on a woman is a great thing! Ok, that's just my take and you don't have to get it....A real woman has some curves.

Oh...been there and done that on the figure..............WRONG!

Because they see women with hips that carry the width of a truck, and THAT if anything is a complete turn-off.
