Are any of thosae full luxury street cars? No. Didn't think so. I've already talked about the Kugel and LeFevers "production" Firebird that went 300 and the MacDonald and Pitt Firebird that did 308. But neither were streetable cars, even though they were "production" bodies.

There IS a difference between a salt flats race car with no interior, no street leagal equipment, and a non-streetable engine, and a full interior luxury car with AC, stereo, and handling to boot.

And no, the Vintage Air 200 mph Studebaker doesn't count, as it 1) wasn't as fast, and 2) couldn't turn worth a crap.

Trust me, I know more than enough about SCTA race cars.

^^ Land speed records are generally associated with vehicles that are run on a salt flat or lake bed in a straight line, not on a track. The link should probably have been worded differently.

I agree with your comments above. I just had a problem with the wording of land speed record. I, too am well aware of SCTA cars as I've spent a lot of time at El Mirage and Bonnevile crewing for this guy.
