Good for him. I seem to get closer every year, but still no luck.

There is only so many minutes you can buy and you corner the board.

What amazes me is when someone buys one ticket and wins! The fact that this guy won by himself is odd though, normally there is a bunch of winners that have to split the pot!

I buy about four tickets a year and came close one year, on my minute the tripod fell over and the ice moved about 50' and stopped... Then 30 minutes the ice went out after moving farther and stopped the clock!

But it is fun to go down to the river and see how your minute is coming along!

I don't think anyone has won it 7 times. A pool maybe.

I don't know the exact number but it is close. The guy gets people to join his pool and he buys somewhere in the $20,000.00 a year in tickets, but when you cover all the times, that really doesn't mean that much. Most of the wins he has hit only paid out about half of what he paid because a bunch of people also won those years with that same time.

Easy enought to find out, call the Ice Classics and ask them. The guy is always bragging that he won it often when you go down to watch the tripod before it goes out. He comes down from Fairbanks and hangs around on his times. Since the pool is in his name, he takes credit for the win.

When it gets to the average days, he buys 24 hours, then every minute by those time then every other minute.

I'd get writers cramp just thinking about trying to fill out that many cards!

Although I don't recall that guy winning anything in the last dozen years or so, but he still shows up, so I guess he is still spending other people's money.
