There's at least one strip club there too.

It really is very expensive to live in the area, but housing isn't the biggest costs.... it's the fuel and electricity.
There is a lot of game in the area if you are big into hunting and fishing.
Moose maybe fascinating, but at the same time they are EXTREEMLY dangerous, and you have to stay your distance.
YOU WILL HIT A MOOSE with your vehicle at some point.
If you are trying to convince someone to move in the area, I would stick with the hunting and fishing.
though dog sledding seems to be a big thing, it's not as comon as you think.
Most people suffer from deppression in the winter.
I suggest if you want to con him into it.... make a visit durring the summer, because the summers are so incredible and goergous. tkae him to Valdez for a halibut charter, and go gold panning in Fox.
I love this Area, it will always be my home.
I have lived here for close to 12 yrs and never seen a musk ox... Denali is closed in the winter, and it is very expensive to visit.
Check out a few things before moving here, like the sex offender registry, the school ratings (they are pretty low) House costs, FUEL COSTS.. We go threw about $600-700 worth of fuel every 3-4 weeks, this is normal.
it is hard to live in Alaska, you MUST make sure you are up for it, as well as your husband.
I live here too and concur with April. I'm moving b/c the winters are getting to me. It sounds like you are the type who will really like living here. However, if your husband enjoys being entertained rather than making his own entertainment, he might have a hard time here. I think it's interesting that April says most people get depressed in the winter. Maybe other people are more accepting of it than I am? I have a hard time not feeling as good year round. Looking at this list, I'd say it is pretty accurate and view all of these things as negatives. I moved here with an open mind, but at the same time, I didn't expect it to be so hard.

Very well put. It's hard to know what your personal experience with living here would be like until you do it. I had my own couple weeks of "winter weirdness" and now I'm over it, but I talk to many folks that struggle with it for months.
Someone who's interests aren't in the things around here could be set up to "struggle" more ...........just a thought.
