I would support cheap sunglasses (as the song goes), but the tires need to be good...

OMG, I'm cracking up reading this thread. I wonder if the OP ended up going anywhere...

We drove up to your wonderful state this summer (Top of the World Hwy) and it was amazing. The scenery was second to none, but I was never so happy to see Chicken in my life LOL! We just gassed up and kept going, but I wanted to just stay there for a few days to ease my frazzled nerves. Hubby was fine, but I'm sure I sprouted a few extra white hairs that day.

We have sh*ty winters here in northern Ontario, but there's no way in hell I'd do that drive in the winter, no matter what kind of vehicle. Big balls? you betcha!

When you guys say pot holes on your "paved" highways, I say they are more like craters that will tear your oil tank off if you hit them too hard lol. We had a bottle of red wine flip out of our sink in the RV we were pulling. Of course the stopper came out and we had a lovely, sticky mess.

Anyways, we had a great trip and we plan on doing it again some day.

You should have spent a day at Chicken Gold Camp. Nice folks and some good gold claims. I don't think anyone has ever walked away from there without finding gold in their pan.

^I second that! Should've hung out in Chicken for a bit. Great people, great camping, great place to take break from the road.
