For those of you who don't know, we have a rifle team at the University Of AK, Fairbanks (UAF), that has been very successful through the years. In fact, a former member of this rifle team (called the Nanooks), won a gold medal at the last Olympics. The Nanooks just won their 10th NCAA title last week.

Trailing Army by six points after Friday’s smallbore competition, the Nanooks blew the Black Knights out of the water in the air rifle portion of the match to claim the overall NCAA title by a 10-point margin.

Default very nice, and non-PC too!

I wish there was more coverage of the shooting sports, instead of the medias obsessive fascination with every last detail of whatever the latest mass-murder was. They go so far out of their way to portray firearms and everything related to them in a negative light that its pathological, not to mention disturbing and grossly biased.

Glad to hear the local boys did well.

Yeah, the liberal media. Makes me wanna puke.

Good news! I just read the Supreme Court is upholding the 2nd Amendment Right to keep and bear arms for ordinary citizens.

This is significant. Keep in mind that one of the main arguments of the gun grabbers is that the 2nd Amendment only applied to organized militias such as the military, national and state guards.

I used to have an Anschutz target rifle in .22LR. It was difficult NOT to hit what you were aiming at. These guns are highly impractical at best, but fun to shoot.

Yes, those rifles are expensive, but so sweet to shoot with. Perfect for grouse, too

I can't say I've ever eaten a grouse. Does it taste more like turkey or chicken?

Spruce grouse tastes sort of liver-like, so I don't like it very much, although others love the taste. Ruffed grouse is another story all together, since it tastes like a sort of free-range chicken. It's delicious. There are other types of grouse in Alaska, but these two are the only ones I have "munched" on.

I don't use a shotgun like most folks do, because I just pick one or two out a flock. This way they can keep on "grousing" I use a Rossi single-shot .22 kids rifle, and load a .22 Short round in the chamber. But sometimes I use a Walther .177 pellet pistol that has a red dot sight, loaded with the new gold pellets (PBA) for added velocity.
