UAA couldn't even keep their teacher accreditation program and many students got screwed on that deal.

IMO, it's not even a close contest and UAF is the superior Alaska school.
I think you and I just like the interior and the things that it offers, and given a choice between Anchorage and Fairbanks, will always choose Fairbanks.

But yeah, I agree with all that.

I have no idea why there is not a flier's course, specially since we have a wide open space all around Fairbanks.
I am guessing the cold Fairbanks winter weather has something to do with no flier's course. Piston engine aircraft do not handle extreme cold temps very well. Would be hard to get a lot of flying days.

Haha true, I'm slightly biased against Anchorage. I guess the main appeal for UAF then is that it's almost 400 miles from Anchorage .

UAF is much more of a traditional self-contained university campus, whereas UAA feels more like a commuter school. UAF also has a stronger reputation academically, with the exception of a handful of specialized programs (like nursing) at UAA.

UAF being the UA system's flagship school, I suspect it's going to come out of the downsizing in the best shape.

I would also note that UAF's mascot is clearly superior

Maybe, but I see a lot of Sense and other small aircraft flying during the winter, although not on the coldest days. However, winters have been mild for a few years already.
