I will be moving to Alaska in may of 09 and I am looking for some info on lakes in the Fairbanks/North Pole area? How war do they get in the summer? My wife and I just bought a pair of jet-skis and I am wondering if I would be stupid to bring them? Thanks in advance

Well,.....stupid being a somewhat relative term, I suppose one could always jet ski while wearing a wet suit, and the boots thereof, gloves too, may not be a bad idea. If you intended to pursue this endeavor with only a swim suit, well,..... I do hope blue is your favorite color.

Well as Dusty said, it is cold, cold water. There are a lot of people using them all over, and lots of companies sell them in Fairbanks, but they do tend to be dressed in at least a "Wet Suit" in the event they fall off. The water isn't frozen during the summer, but it is cold enough that ice cubes don't melt very darn fast either....

You can jet ski along the Chena through town in Fairbanks! It's pretty cool! (sorry, couldn't help the pun)
