It has been a wet summer, but the interior of Alaska experiences the most warmer weather and very cold winters, with a combination of clear or cloudy skies. During an average summer in Fairbanks, it's sunny most of the time, but it rains in May, and then August. Look around right now, and you will see the most beautiful foliage.

I agree on that. The foliage right now is just incredible. I think its one of the prettiest fall's that I have seen in my time up here. We took a drive out of town last weekend to take pictures and it was gorgeous. It seems like the leaves are a deeper orange this year instead of yellow. Get outside and enjoy it while it last because soon the tree's will be bare.

It's not winter yet, every winter is different. You never know until it comes around. Who knows, it might not get too far below zero(yea right).

Okay...for winter. Generally clear. Problem with that is the DEEP cold temps come along with no cloud cover. Honestly, if you're wondering about how cloudy, the lack of daylight will probably be the biggest issue for you. Cloud cover does not make it near as dreary as it being dark for most of the day. And when the sun is up in the winter, "up" is relative (stays low on the southern horizon--not a bright light).
