There are a number of Russians, Ukrainians, and Belorussians at the Universities in the state.
The towns of Belfield, Butte, and Max were mostly settled by Ukrainian people, but that was 100+ years ago. They may be people there that know the language and there is a Ukrainian Heritage Society in ND.
North Dakota
A big fraction of ND was settled by Germans from Russia. Bismarck was named that to attract those Germans from Russia (most actually lived in Ukraine for a few generations), who easily adapted to ND because they were used to the Steppes of Ukraine and Russia. They were mostly German speaking.
There are Russians in heritage in the state, but they didn't concentrate in one area to help preserve their culture.
