I was born on June 20, 1957 and am searching for others born the same day as the Fargo Tornado. It would be fun to meet or share our stories- even have some cool T shirts made. If you know of anyone who was born that day in the Fargo area, please get in touch via this forum.
I was born at St. Luke's at 12:48 am on the 20th. My parents were due to move into veterans housing across the street from NDSU the next day, but the building blew away. The following year my family moved to Brainerd, MN where I grew up, and I graduated from Concordia in 1978. I presently live in Las Vegas and missed the 50 year commemorative events in Fargo last month. Maybe something like this was already started then?
This would be a cool thing to do and I need as much help as I can get to identify and locate other tornado babies. It would also be fun to hear from you if your birthday is June 20 and you spent it in the Fargo Tornado! There must be a few of us around!
The NWS Grand Forks ND put together a commerative ceremony for the event this year in coordination with the city of Fargo and others. Here is a link from our home page regarding the ceremonies and public accounts of the tornado that day. Reading those accounts might help you come across some useful info.
Thanks for the information! I was not able to be in Fargo for the festivities so am trying to catch up with tornado babies on my own. I have some contacts and have made a start. Thanks so much!
If any other tornado babies read this please respond to this thread.
It's five years later- anything happening in Fargo for the 55th anniversary of the tornado of 1957? I am sending this out again in hope of locating anyone else born in Fargo on June 20, 1957. Thanks to everyone who has replied to me so far.
