This is the new fashion for the summer, and I think bebe is responsible. The beautiful girls used to wear tight shirts and show off their stuff, now they're wearing these loose fitting tops with elastic around the waist and gathers for belly expansion. Maybe it's supposed to look modest? I think it's stupid, about as stupid as wearing your pants below your ass.
Is this happening everywhere, or is it just California?
I highly doubt non-pregnant women have suddenly started shopping in the maternity section of stores. They're babydoll and trapeze tops and tunics, and they're in style. Get used to it.
No, a lot of them are maternity shirts, and a lot of the girls wearing them are teenagers.
Dude, they do it here too. Trust me. They're babydoll styled tops, and yes, they look exactly like maternity tops - but they aren't shopping in maternity stores.
I buy a large majority of my tops from a maternity store, or in the maternity section of existing stores. I have giant boobs and I'm really tall. Maternity shirts are really long (for expansion of the belly) and have extra room for bigger boobs.
If the bottom part is too big, I can easily take it in with my sewing machine. I've been wearing maternity tops since I graduated High School
But yes, I have seen a lot of empire wasted tops lately and I think they're adorable
It sucks for us girls who are thin, short, and don't have bountiful tatas. A lot of the cute tops coming out these days have an empire waist or are just very billowy, and it just makes me look like a pitifully short, knocked up thirteen year old.
