Doesn't sound too out there, Mike. Surely in a town the size of Houston there has to be some decent artists? What about Dallas? For a piece as important as full sleeve, I wouldn't hesitate to travel to get it done.
There's going to be a tattoo expo at the Reliant Center on Nov. 18-20. I would see who is scheduled to be there and perhaps you can set something up with one of them.
Well guys, I found some old comic book covers the are in line with what I want. Amazingly enough, not to many guys in Houston want to take it on and the ones that do are not much of an artist from what I gather in their works. I have no problem traveling. Pulp Sci Fi art theme is what I'm shooting for.
Jordan, I think the colors on that first one are the result of a bit of photo tweaking. I'm sure they're stunning in person, as well, just not THAT vibrant. That pic looks oversaturated to me....
OK, here's an update pic. The owl is done (though this pic shows it without the pink worked in behind the lime green star burst). Please forgive the blood. I'm really digging the colors! Both my artist and I have a growing appreciation for old school pieces that use decidedly non-old school colors. Hopefully the next sitting will be the finish of it - 1, maybe 2 "popcorn" pieces and the stars and dots.
That's nice Hooligan! You have a great collaborator/artist on your side!
