I try to find pants with a rise that cuts the "muffin top" in half, if you know what I mean. The waist doesn't gap and they are long and lean.

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans
I hate the name of this jean company but wanted to let you know about it. Back story: I was home sick one day and Oprah was on with some Fashionistas who mentioned that for those trying to get rid of their "Muffin Tops", they need a higher rise waist in a jean. "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" was the brand recommended for this.

I know! I think Colorado has to be one of the most casual places in the country. It's nice sometimes when you feel like slacking, but I look and feel better when I dress nicely.

Not if you went up to a 7(or larger) though. The cut is straiter so the waist is not as nipped in(a tight waist squishes up/in/out skin etc). A women's/miss may usually has more of a curve cut. The low rise hits at the hip so it works because the waist is straiter. You have to go up a few sizes though. Same size would definitely make it worse. Juniors regular waist would also probably not work. (too strait on a higher waist = gaps & box butt)

I actually tried gap curvy fit jeans in a size 2 and those fit pretty well. May have to get the waist taken in a bit though...
