In fact, being a bit older can help you pull off the sophistication and elegance that a teenager does not have. Work what you have, not what you wish you still had.

Competing with your own daughter is just gross.
I've always found that to be extraordinarily tacky at ANY age. Why not just hold up a sign that says "Hey look at my ass!" .

I do agree though...work with what you have. Always.

Mini-skirts should not be worn by women who are 40+. I saw a senior citizen wearing one the other day and it was not a pretty sight. She was making a fool of herself.

How mini ... micromini? I have a denim skirt that hits me a couple inches above the knee. It's not a teeny little skirt, but I'm not sure what a miniskirt exactly entails. Anything above the knee?

In my brain, a miniskirt has a hem closer to the rear-end than to the knees. It's at least shorter than mid-thigh.

Some styles are more suitable for certain ages.

Low-cut tops and miniskirts make someone with a sagging chest and wrinkles looks desperate; likewise a teen will look frumpy wearing clothes meant for a woman in their 40s.

Looking fashionable and sophisticated for your age is much classier than trying to dress older or younger than you are.

Outside of children, obviously, wear whatever the heck you want as long as it's appropriate to the occasion/location.

MOST of my skirts are above the knee. A few of them hit about 5 inches above. I don't see anything wrong with that. This skirt is actually a "skort", and while it is a mini, and I am certainly over 40 , I think it looks quite appropriate.

I think it's more about how you can pull off a certain look and still look good. Obviously, taking care of your body goes a long way. One example that stands out recently--I was at the mall and spotted a guy in his mid 40's wearing a Hollister or Abercrombie t-shirt, he was not in good shape, and the t-shirt was too tight. He also had bad highlights in his hair and tight jeans. Not a good look for him at that age. Now if a guy is in his mid 40's and looks like Randy Orton, he can easily pull off the Hollister/Abercrombie look without embarrassing his teenage kids.
