Today's outfit for church, smack dab in the middle of the nation...not northern, not southern, not east coast nor west coast: black pants, black socks, black ballet flats, black lightweight cardigan, unbuttoned over a bright red tank/shell and silver jewelry.
Maybe its just me but aside from jeans, the other 99% of my clothes are black, with the exception of a few shirts...which are brown or dark blue. Im just a 'black' kinda gal, and black is pretty universal.

Wow, and you're in California?
I guess because I'm outdoorsy,
I learned very young that dark colours are terrible for even warm sunny weather.
They'll heat up more, making me thirsty faster.
Probably why I never developed a fondness for them...
Not to mention, at night they're harder to see,
so more dangerous to be a pedestrian,
but also harder to find clothing items in dim lighting.
I've always found it odd why so many women like wearing dark, matching colours
even in weather where they are suffering in the sun for their colour choice.
Like say black or navy top, pants and maybe a sweater, all the same colour.
No print or anything.
I find this style a bit boring, but also weird when it's warm and sunny.
Guys under 40 would probably only dress like this if they wanted to look "Goth", "Metal-head" or generic "bad-ass."
Is this primarily a trend where the climate throughout the year is cool/cold
or is it also common in warm/hot sunny climates for women to dress this way,
and have to keep their time in the sun brief, in the name of "fashion"?
Personally, I often try to avoid colour and tone matching
because with no contrast your pants blend into your shirt all you see at a glance is your face and hands.
Except sometimes I like white-on-white in summer, for dressy-casual wear.
If I wear black pants or skirt, I like to wear a bright color shirt, like pink or white, I like the way the dark and light colors contrast with each other.
I also like to wear black and red together. But I have a great fashion sense I know how to match clothes together.
Well, CC, black is "in" even down here in hot, hot....give it a few more hots...Texas.
I usually like to wear a bit of color with my "black" but, yeah, black and also black and white are considered very stylish even here in the south ....IN THE SUMMER!
Up ulntil a couple years ago, most of my wardrobe consisted of mostly blacks and browns. I grew tired of it. I have a complexion that mixes well with many colors, so nowadays I incorporate more colors into my wardrobe: wearing brighter colors "warms up" the winter too.
