I do the same thing - I'll buy several pairs of more expensive dress pants then have them tailored to fit me perfect. If you buy a classic (non-trendy) style then you can begin to build a wardrobe and better quality will last you for years as long as you take care of them.

As for jeans, I've found that still to this day Levi's fit me best. I've had pairs of 7 for All Mankind and True Religion and neither fit me as well or made me feel as good as my classic Levi's.

Liz Claiborne Chelsea cut jeans (not pants) are what I bought...on sale. Don't know how they'll work for anyone else, but I like them so far. I want to try Levi's since they have all those different size options.
