These days men are shaving their body hair, the face. They are only leaving their head hair. Basically they are turning themselves into women.
When I see a guy with a beard, I see a guy who looks natural. People are going for too much of a pruned and primped artificial look. Especially men these days.
I'd like to see manliness make a comeback. Instead of metrosexualism and sissyness.
I think that this is an area that merits research, in that what your father had, is more than likely what you will prefer...I go CRAZY over men with moustaches, and my Dad had one...so...maybe it is a sick Electra Complex...but a guy with a big moustache, and I start to MELT...does not matter anything else...and then, there are other added benefits, that will be deferred due to this being a G rated discussion...

It will, all fashion trends run in cycles, androgony first became a trend with Bowie way back then.
My question is why would a macho male care about fashion trends? Much less care about what other men are doing. Some guys act like they want to date other guys or something.
In either case I am glad the ridiculous baggy pants, sagging, and relaxed fit are out of style as far as mainstream trends.
I appreciate the male who can slide fluidly between different looks, it is about time us guys have variety instead of trying to look like each other. I apprecitate it mainly because now I am allowed to dress how I please without some stupid macho male making comments because he feels threatened that I do not look exactly like him.
Besides the more of them who exist the more guys who do groom and care about looking decent have an advantage.
The only impact what a guy has to say about my appearance has on me is to do the opposite to spite him. He doesn't get a say. Perhaps if I was gay, it would matter. I was interested in what women thought about it, because it is women I'm interested in. One specific woman, as a matter of fact. I shaved before asking her for a date, but she already has a boyfriend.
I hate the current fashion for facial stubble on men, particularly when it is inappropriate, like a wedding. I watched a bit of the 1st episode of Hawaii 5-0 and the lead character, who is supposed to be a navel officer went to a meeting with the governor while wearing full dress uniform.....and stubble. The actor's credibility was completely shot and he looked ridiculous.
Nope. You are right. I prefer no facial hair at all. I can't stand beards or goatees and I especially hate the soup strainers (I mean moustaches) and it makes you look older.
What lisalan said.
A little manly stubble once in a while is ok. In theory I think a soul patch is ridiculous but it looks good on some guys and is tolerable. Also I short trimmed mustache is tolerable.
