The "Plain Jane" is probably the person with it all worked out: they are happy and comfortable with themselves, unlike most people, so they don't feel the need to dress up, stand out, try and please everybody, or seek attention. They are not out in the false game of seeking others' approval, and perfectly content with themselves.
Has the definition of "plain" changed? Or does it vary in different parts of the world?
After reading about people's thoughts in this thread and other similar threads here and on other forums, other people's definitions mean either overweight, or dressing in jeans and sweatshirts and not wearing makeup and not styling one's hair.
I thought it referred to one's facial features!

I LOVE dressing up and throwing traditional, odd, new and old pieces together to make them work. Certainly not seeking anyone's attention. I just have so many clothes and accessories (accumulated from many, many years) that I can play around and make a bazillion outfits. Have to say that I try to PLEASE MYSELF with my attire.
I do have my Plain Jane moments...far and few between though.
