Do you organize your closet by color or by type of clothing? Do you have a unique system? What has or hasn't worked for you over the years?

Currently my closet is organized by color and it helps just not as much as I had hoped.

No...

I keep all T-shirts together, and all collared shirts together. I separate short sleeves from long sleeves, keeping long sleeve shirts of both kinds separate from the other two types of shirts. Then pants. Then my hoodie and my suit. Because those two items are not worn for several months out of the year.

My bottoms, dresses and skirts are organized by style. My sweaters and tops are organized by color and by sleeve lengths.

I keep all skirts together and all trousers together etc and then by colour within that. Husband does the same with all his shirts..... but he does have over 100 'work' shirts and prob another 60 casual ones...... his tshirts are all sorted depending on if they are collared, crew neck, old for holiday and leave behind or golf... and then within that they are coloured..... he is Swiss though

Yeah, pretty much by color and length of sleeves. Works well for me.

Nope! I just throw stuff in my closet. The only thing I organize are my shoes.

Sort of. My husband and I share one straight closet, and it's not very big. His clothes are on the left, and mine are on the right. They are organized by type of clothing, and shirts are organized by collar type and sleeve length. Within those smaller organizations, things are organized by color. It sounds OCD but just helps us keep our stuff neat in a small space.

Yes I do except for my coats. They're at one end and it starts from light colors like white, cream, yellow, gray, black, dark blue/navy, and red. Black should have been last but I wear black more than red. My dresser is filled with t-shirts, dress pants, skirts, jeans, and other stuff....

I organize by season. What I wear in the summer is NOT what I wear in the winter. Twice a year I rotate closets. And I separate dressy from everyday. But all the pants are together, shirts, blouses, etc.
