Just wondering what you ladies feel is a good, average price for basic summer dresses-for the office or a casual dinner. I am not talking spaghetti straps and knit sundresses, but still a nice fabric/blend.

Lately, I am seeing a ton of cute dresses around, but they seem to range from about 80.00 +.

Maybe I only have stores that are super expensive or way too cheap...

Depends on the store. At department stores, they charge ~$80. If you go to Dress Barn it is cheaper. Ann Taylor had 30-40% off sales all the time.

But my personal favorite source is british retailer Dorothy Perkins. Even though returns are a little annoying, they have a huge selection, fair prices, and the dresses are cut for people on the hourglass end of the scale. So for me it is win win. Every time I wear one of my DP dresses I get loads of compliments.

Otherwise check out places like Kohls, occasionally Old Navy, Dress Barn, Ann Taylor Loft and even Target. Hit the outlets, Ross, TJ MAxx or Nordstrom Rack and look for discounted Max Studio dresses. Nice jersey knit fabric. The dresses tend to be pretty standard, they have a few styles they make every year (at least that make it to discounters). The store is expensive, but has more styles.

My target dress price is $20-50.

I just bought a cute and stylish white bustier dress for 25$ at H&M . I usually spend between 20 and 100$ for a dress.

TMaxx and Ross should have dresses under $50. Perhaps not many but certainly I have seen some.

I'm starting to think casual dresses are worth spending a little more than my thrifty self would normally allow, as in the $50-100 range. I want these dresses to look pert and pretty but stand up to picnics and lounging and playing with little ones.

I've recently taken to getting familiar with brands I like online and in store if I can and then searching for them on eBay. So far so good.

I don't ever buy work dresses that expensive. The most I would ever spend on a business casual dress for my work wardrobe is forty bucks. Usually a good ten dollars less.

I buy brands/sizes I know fit me on eBay, too. You can find new with tags stuff for about half price. Designer stuff will sell for more like 70% of orig price.

Depends on how old you are. You can get cute, cheap ones at Forever 21.

It depends on how cheap you want to go. Stores like Old navy, forever 21, wetseal.com, bebe.com all have cheap dresses. I would highly recommend urbanoutfitters.com and charlotterusse.com
