It's like anything else. One does it and the herd follows. Kind of like spelling "ridiculous" with an "e".
Yeah - I get the blending but some of these girls seem to purposefully go for the liner-look....because in order to blend, the shades actually need to be at least somewhat close.....they instead go for the significantly lighter lips and darker liner...and they end up looking "ridiculous"

Yes, it's a specific look and the liner and lipstick are not supposed to match. Ugh.

That liner is hideous! What were those make-up artists thinking back then?

+1! Aesthetically makes no sense!

Two more recent trends that I think people might disagree with me but I absolutely hated are:

1. The headband trend that was all the craze, the one that goes over the forehead which I think only works if you are a Flapper or a Hippie.

2. Those blouses/ dresses that flare out at the empire waist. Complete opposite of fitted. Reminds me of moo- moos and very unflattering to the figure... it completely hid your body shape and made a lot of women look pregnant IMO.

I love empire waists, but I like the fitted ones that start narrow and gradually flare at the hem. Some call them "fit and flare".

Btw I thought this morning that no one nowadays does that dark lip liner and light lipstick anymore.

But I was on the treadmill today and saw the show on the food network: Down Home with the Neelys. The star of that show had a serious case of lip liner contrast with lips battle going on. Dark dark lip liner and white mirror shimmer lipstick/gloss...

Talk about blast from the past!

I don't like capris and 3/4 length sleeved shirts because I don't want to look like the Incredible Hulk.

I understand about the capris, but you can wear cool bracelets with 3/4 sleeves.
