Sometimes I find clothes.....socks, shirts, sweaters, etc........laying on the ground in good condition..........take them home and wash them........good as new.

Somewhere there's a group of people skinny dipping who are in for a big surprise when they get out of the water.
I buy clothes from thrift stores. I've noticed that Target likes to donate their leftover inventory to Goodwill; it's not uncommon to find multiples of various Target brands in my local store.
I also like to search for the cashmere and merino wool sweaters in there. Way way cheaper than buying new.
And I looooove finding shoes at Goodwill. A good antibacterial spray takes care of any bugs...have never caught any sort of foot fungus yet. I don't think they put out anything significantly worn.

Love Goodwill. Went back-to-school shopping with my 8th grader today. She picked up a dozen barely worn name brand shorts and tshirts and I found a couple of cute tops for myself - all for $65. We would have spent twice that if we'd bought new at Old Navy or Aero.
Over the years I've found Land's End boots for $5 and Columbia jackets for $15. I'm thoroughly converted to thrift store shopping.
They are still around, lots of those people discard their filthy dregs when they get more.
