Guys (or helpful women),

I am looking for a pair of leather loafers and love these (in black) by Prada. I like the simple design, the rubber sole, the modern shape. Unfortunately, $500 for a pair of shoes is not gonna happen. Can anyone suggest a good alternative?

Wow. Never would have expected you to be so conservative, Antlers.

I'd suggest some Clark's perhaps? I just bought a pair of their driving mocs this summer to wear with dressier shorts, etc, and they're quite nice.

From time to time, these may pop up from less famous labels: Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole, J&M, even Florsheim. Why not browse websites like Zappos or Shoebuy? I remember Ecco once had something similar.

While walking on the street, when my laces come off, and the pedestrian signal goes red, I place my briefcase on the floor, kneel down and tie my laces, exploring the nice, golden, succulent calf on the hairless leg of the dame standing next to me

I KNEW there was an ulterior motive, Chamy.

I knew it. I knew it. I knew it!

I would try looking at something like Cole Haan's Air Keating Venetian loafer for a similar look, at under $200. TOD's might also have something, but they're in the same price category as Prada.

Allen Edmonds. For $300 you get a great shoe that can also be refurbished (heel and sole replaced) and will last you longer than any off-the-shelf $100 shoes. Over the long haul you'll save money.
