Since I don't have anything to carry in my hands I don't give a rip about handbags.

Since I walk and stand all day I adore shoes and always have...

Well, OK, I admit it, shoes are an obsession. In fact, the only line I remember from the Silence of the Lambs is when Hannibal disses Clarissa's cheap shoes

I used to scour thrift stores for designer shoes and a wore broken down pair of Pappagalo pumps for two years straight. After returning from an art show at the Whitney I realized that the only image that stood out in my mind was the wingtips I'd seen in a Madison Avenue window that looked like burled walnut...

would you acept a gift like this from a man? -- a pair of shoes --or do you consider it ........mission impossible...

If a man gave me a pair of incredible shoes I would stuff cotton balls into the toes and line them in moleskin if I had to!

~ but you have to know your lady friend pretty well, I would think, or be a fashionista yourself. For example, I would take a pair of used brazilian sandals over a pair of christian louboutin, depending on the style & craftsmanship of each. I like seeing the craftsman's touch or the patina of years of loving care. However, there is also the allure of 'new shoe smell' and the perfection of perfectly folded tissue in the perfectly creased box...
