Really, though, I haven't personally experienced that - it seems to me like people are harshest on women who are flabby all over, or have guts. I was entering the dating scene as a teen/young adult during the time period when Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce were first being held up as the ultimate shape of femininity, and all of a sudden, having a big butt and wide hips was hot...the attitudes set up by pop culture figures always figure into the overall climate of acceptance. But when I was a teen, the hot fashion look went from the heroin-chic old school Kate Moss waif look to women with wide, round hips and butts being held up as more attractive. During my teenage years, I literally saw, "Damn, she's got a big ass" go from a slam to a compliment.

Honestly, even at my heaviest, I never wanted for dates. I was about 60 lbs heavier when I met my current SO (the rounded part of the pear was even more rounded), and he didn't bat an eye (he's a fit, wiry runner, but doesn't prefer that look in women. I run, now, but there's no danger of me developing a runner's build, which neither he nor I would find very attractive).

My sister's pretty top-heavy, and I don't envy her. When I weighed more, my breasts went up to 38C, and I was still pear-shaped. But I didn't like having boobs that big, or the way tops fit.

The whole list seemed like FA propaganda, so it really doesn't interest me.

I have a friend who was in the Renfrew Center for eating disorders... do you not know that people are dying to be thinner every day?
What does this have to do with me or my post that you have quoted?

And if we use height/weight charts to call people obese, what's the difference in using them to call people extremely underweight? None.
Speak for yourself - we don't use charts to call people obese or underweight, you do.

The last time I really looked at a height/weight chart was in 7th grade health class. The only exception would be the height/weight charts that are printed on pantyhose & tights. Those I look at.

Is there something wrong with your computer screen? That's a pretty serious WHR on the first two. You don't have to be fat to have curves.

I always thought curvy meant how big your curves were. In that case #1 has no curves. Just a stupid twig.

What are you talking about?? I turned 35 last week - check my profile. Not to mention, it says in plain sight that I've been a member since 2006... So you think I joined CD when I was 12? Obviously you have me confused with somebody else, LOL.

No, curvy means she has curves that you can clearly see but is not obese or overweight. Compare curvy to girls who have no shape.

J-Lo is curvy. Beyonce is curvy. Mary Kate and Ashley Olson are no shape sticks. Paris Hilton is a no shape stick. Lindsey Lohan is a no shape stick. See the difference?

I saw your photos and you could be considered curvy in about 30 pounds. I also have to echo another, on this thread or the thread with your pics, I also thought you would be much bigger than you look in the photos because your goal was to lose 100 pounds. Are you sure you need to lose 100 pounds?

Yes you need to lose some weight but 100 pounds? Maybe you carry it better than others.

But you gotta stop with the fried chicken, french fry dinners like you posted you had last night.

Just keep at it, up the exercise another 5 minutes.

And cardio means get your heart rate up like aerobics or running or swimming, not lifting weights or doing 100 sit ups - things like that.

Curvy to me is both bust to waist and hips to waist. Despite not having much in the boobs department, #1 is definitely curvy. Waist to hip ratio is actually one of the more universal measurements of female beauty. Twiggy would be an exception to that... although here waist was tiny, she had little in the way of hips.

I do not think pic #1 and #2 are curvy. They look extremely thin.

I think pic #3 and #4 are curvy with #4 getting close to being overweight. Not there yet but could be there in about 10-15 pounds.

Edit: Correction, I meant #3 being close to being overweight. I think #4 should lose about 10-15 pounds.

Exactly.

I think that one and two have "petite curves". Not everyone has to have cellulite to be considered curvy. I also think that we have gotten so fat as a whole that when we see normal looking people, they look "too thin". One and two are the right size for them.

How would gaining weight make someone curvy? Generally, people put weight on in their midsection more than their chest and ass. You're pretty much either curvy or you're not. If you're 32-26-32 (not curvy) and get fat and become 38-30-34 you're still not curvy, just fat.
