TBH I was on the boat of "this is ridiculous" few years ago but it grew on me. Plus I have been wearing prescription glass for life until I got Lasik done 2 years ago & sometimes I miss my glass, especially on the day when I have really dark under eye circle & wish I had glasses to hide behind. So I got lot of sunglass now but I will get fake glass. It is an accessory just like hat. Can complete an outfit
I feel the same way, sometimes I just like to have an extra filter between me and the rest of society... lol

I wear glasses and last year was scheduled for cataract surgery. That usually corrects your vision well enough to go without glasses, and I actually had some concern about giving them up. Eye makeup, brows, etc would probably have to be altered. As it turns out, I couldn’t get my vision back to 20/20 due to astigmatism so I’m still a “four eyes”

Years ago I looked into getting contacts as a birthday present to myself. The eye dr. told me he would prescribe them if I had my heart set on them, but he didn’t think I’d be successful because my eyes are dry. I decided not to chance it and bought a garage door opener instead!

Eyeglasses are a medical aid. Wearing them for fashion only would be like walking around with an unneeded cane for an accessory.

Not unheard of in the history of fashion.

Why? They're a medical device. Would you rock a wheelchair or arm sling for the purpose of fashion?

Why is it glasses are oh-so fashionable and attractive... except on people who actually need them, and then they're considered ugly and dorky?

I also don't get wearing them as a fashion accessory.

I only need them for reading but couldn't imagine wearing them full-time. The frames get in my field of vision and are annoying and seeing the side arm of them in my peripheral vision is also an inconvenience. I dislike wearing them the time I do have to wear them but I don't want to hold my reading/PC at arm's length
