Men and women, what are your 'favorites' for dress shoes for men? I like a good boot or shoe that is well constructed and will last a long time.

I enjoy simplicity, smooth lines, and no unnecessary construction. I don't like overly boxy toes. Oh and casual dress shoes, the worst.

Some of my favorites:

SYLVIAN 2444 (http://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/jefferywest/buyonline.asp?item=sylvian_840_0 - broken link)

O'TOOLE 3728 (http://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/jefferywest/buyonline.asp?item=o_toole_700_0 - broken link)

FLASHMAN 4059 (http://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/jefferywest/buyonline.asp?item=flashman_853_0 - broken link)

Shoes I don't like:

Men's Rockport Waitsfield Black Cap-Toe Dress Shoe - Men's Wearhouse

Cole Haan Pinch Air Tassel Burgundy - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

according to your lists, i like the first and second ones of your favorites..

i also don't like the boxy shoes, especially the toe parts....i can accept the round toe cap shoes..

the color must be black or brown....i don't like other colorful colors...

such as these....NICE!!!

Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing (humor or relevancy) to this thread.

Bruno Magli, Kenneth Cole, Stagg, Dexter, Rockport, or pretty much whatever I find at eithe Nordstrom or Nordstrom rack that I like. Not really a fan of "brands".

For dress, it's Magli & Ferragamo for my husband. Like Lao, he shops at Nordstrom. He also wears Mephisto on more casual days when traveling and dealing with factories in Asia.

My husband is supposed to be meeting with a custom shoemaker while in Hong Kong, but I can't recall if he's doing it this trip or next month.

Alden is considered to be very well made. If you can't swing the price tag (if you didn't follow the link, it's north of $600) the true standard is the Allen-Edmonds Park Avenue.

I just bought a pair of the Stacy Adams Brockton Original Dayton wing-tips in brown. They are the best dress shoes I've ever owned - HUGE bang for the buck at $150, IMO.
