I have a cute shirt that is 54% cotton, 36% rayon, its too big though. I should have bought it one size down.

Do you think that washing it in hot water and then putting it in the dryer would shrink it?

Or just do one or the other?

Any suggestions appreciated!

OP, your idea is not good for the fabric type. The only way to get it to fit is to alter it? Do you have a sewing machine? What kind of shirt is it?

It's might shrink but chances are it won't shrink evenly and you'll be left with a misshapen shirt. Plus as other posters siad, rayon and heat don't mix

You may not be happy with the result, then you have nothing. Return or exchange it.

It really wont shrink correctly if it does at all. I agree to return it. Usually only works with stuff that is mostly if not all cotton or wool.

Depending on the type of shirt it is, you can alter it yourself.
