Shady women? You're one seriously weird person. Then again Germans are hardly known for their sense of fashion.
Don't get personal. My being German doesn't have anything to do with it, after all there are lots of Germans fashion designers and models.
It is simply a personal attitude. Some people just don't care about fashion (even in France, Italy and other supposedly fashion-aware countries), while others love to waste their money on it...
And like it or not, in some more conservative regions, countries, and cultures high heels are associated with a negative image.

And yet ... Marlene Dietrich.
I saw this picture in a slideshow of "50 favorite photos of all time," put out by either Time or Life recently. I searched for the link with no success, but I want to give credit for this photo if I can. According to Time (Life?), this was one of their very favorite portraits.

What do the misogynistic views of other regions have to do with being a woman?
He was just stating an observation. Are you one of those women who feels empowered by wearing heels? Oh, look what they can do to those silly men...
You really hate women, huh? You seem to have nothing but negative things to say about them.
No, heels don't make me feel empowered. They make me feel tall(er), graceful, sexy, impressive, and dressed up among other things. I think women should be able to wear whatever footwear they like without having to worry that some man thinks she looks like a prostitute. It's ridiculous to judge women of one culture by the standards of another.
I don't understand that discussion anymore. What is the problem? Nobody says Americans should think like Indians or vice versa. But not only in India are high heels associated with a negative image of women, also in more rural parts of Europe. It also depends of the rest of the outfit, on makeup, behavior, etc.
I think a "real woman" makes up her own mind on what she puts on her feet.
Many intelligent women make the decision not to be a slave to fashion and wear a shoe style that is often uncomfortable, and worse, can cause bunions, blisters, or sprained or broken ankles.
Is there any fashion that men wear to please/attract a woman that's at all similar to the discomfort of heels? If not, why not?

The problem is your continued insinuation that women who wear high heels are promiscuous and/or undesirable. You haven't picked up on this yet?

You are again missing the point. The topic is not women wearing them, but those not wearing them.
I live in the West, I am free to think what I want. And when I think high heels usually make a woman look inappropriate, cheap or ridiculous, either ignore it or learn to live with it because I certainly won't change my opinion. I have never been the kind of person to fall for manipulated looks, I don't like high heels, make-up, vulgar or fancy clothes, etc.

You like your women hairy too?
