They are badass...pulling up on their Harley, wearing Ray Bans, smoking a ***...

It's something that only certain people can pull off...

I've got a 'pleather' jacket myself and it make me look like a wannabe rock star. It's comeback as a bit of a fad, even teenage girls who probably have a poster of Justin Bieber on their bedroom walls are wearing them. In other words the total opposite of Joan Jett or Susie Quattro.

I used to wear leather a lot. I love that little black leather jacket, it was a hot look. I'm just not into it anymore; and actually I don't see many other people wearing leather either...

They have fetishes and probably into S & M. If they are wearing anything else leather, besides shoes and gloves, definitely.

Maybe they are not as popular as they used to be. However, I think they are like jeans...they will never truly ever go completely out of style. Here in NJ, i still see quite a few wearing them.

As for what does it say about the wearer...it depends on the leather. Classier lambskin leather is a classier jacket. Not a big deal to wear it, just a bit classier. Perhaps, I think it is not a big deal being here in NJ and still seeing people wear them. Motorcycle cow-hide leather are a less classy, biker-look. This is too not a big deal, but it does give a slightly rebellious look to it. Being more liberal NJ, that too is not a big deal, but it does give that image a bit.

As for the wearer. I see men and women wearing them. I do not think it matters that much as long as the person isn't 85 years old, disabled or too overweight. Otherwise, what is the big deal?

I was surprised to see so much leather in Manhattan. Long coats and very expensive looking jackets. Not nearly so much in the Midwest. I like those leather trench coats.

I don't have much use for leather jackets, but I like them. Nice, soft leather feels so good. I generally don't care much what other people think of the stuff/people I like...

This is nearly identical to my 10 y.o. soft leather jacket that I got from Nordstrom, except mine is chocolate brown w/slight croc embossing. I still love it.

I like them in the right cut/color. Structured leather blazers seem to be popular with the Spring 2012 lines, along with leather shorts (if you can get away with that!)....
