Do you usually toss it out or save it (perhaps because it's still good or maybe even that it'll become popular or in style once again) when it's "over"?
Usually save-if in good shape.

How about another option.... donate them!
That's what i do when I tire of something, or when I find something I like better.
I'm with you. I donate a lot of clothes.

I usually keep all of my clothing as long as the items are in good shape, because styles usually come back fairly quickly. For example, I have a leather motorcycle jacket that I purchased years ago. Motorcycle jackets went out of style for a short while, but they eventually came back. Since I kept my jacket, I don't have to buy a new one!

I buy clothes that have a basic, classic look to them. Or styles of clothing that have been popular for decades and clothes that will always be in style. Examples are my aviators, Wayfarers, polo shirts, khaki shorts, Rolex watch, my leather watch, black leather jacket etc.

I wear them out usually; if they are torn or stained or damaged, I cut them into fabric squares to make quilts out of. Some stuff I wear a few times then get bored of it, and it stays in the back of the closet till it's either back in fashion or I donate it.

I can only buy what fits me, regardless of 'style'. I think I can count on one hand the times I've been able to find a 'trendy' clothing item that also fit me properly. I have a very abnormal body type so I suppose I can't be picky.

So, it's jeans and tshirts for me

I don't toss anything. I don't buy trendy clothing either. Jeans are never worn out enough until they are shredding at the seems...AKA the whole ass is ripped out. Reason? They still make great garage greasy monkey pants!

I tend to donate what i no longer wear. Doesn't matter if it's stylish or horrible, if you haven't worn it for a while and don't think you'll wear it again donate it.
