there are compliments, and then there are compliments with strings attached -- and I mean strings beyond a polite "thank you." Such as the woman above saying that even women were wanting to hug her, motorboat her, etc. It's not a compliment then; it's the opening gambit in a deliberate transaction where the person is trying to get something from the object of their attention.
It doesn't take many of those interactions before any person -- man, woman, beautiful or not -- starts being suspicious of compliments. With beautiful women, there are just so many, many more of those encounters that they become very mistrustful of compliments especially from strangers.
I never get tired of being complimented. I do however, get tired of people who feel that paying me a compliment means that I actually have to take time out of my life to reply to them.
I don't mind receiving compliments but sometimes men expect something in return for them or act as if you are now obligated to speak to with them (or that you are giving them an invitation) just because they gave the compliment.
I hated compliments as a child, teen, adult and I still hate them
It is actually relief to get less as I have gotten older. I have mirrors at home, I don't need validation
