I wear boots all of the time. Slim straight fit over boots just fine
Baggy jeans went out of style in the 90s. Sorry bro.
Straight legged jeans are the original type of jeans. Workers who mined, and who wore boots, wore straight legged jeans, so boots still fit under the jeans with straight legged styles.
Sure straight-leg jeans fit over boots. They just look really dumb that way. Especially if the boot has much of a heel at all, it makes it look like you're wearing highwaters.

so all these ppl wearing shorts/pants that stop about 4 inches above the ankle DONT look like theyre wearing highwaters?

Exactly. When wearing a boot, you don't want a big bulge showing from your jeans where the boot is at. A boot-cut pair of jeans allows the room for a boot to comfortably fit inside a jean.
Wearing a straight leg does look very silly, you can tell these type of people have never ridden a horse.
Which jeans are more in style right now boot cut or skinny? I'm not seeing skinny jeans featured in stores as much except Gap so I'm wondering if skinny jeans are going out. Any thoughts
Its not as trendy but why only get one style if you can wear whatever cut?
I have a mix in my closet. Mostly boot, strait and a few skinny cuts. It depends on what shoe/top I am wearing as to what works with what.

Well, that's a totally different coversation. But I have to say that when I see people wearing that "style" names like Lewis Skolnick and Gilbert Lowe come to mind.
