I'm about 5'6 or 5'7. I either wear size 12 or 14 (depending on the material and the brand), and I am a 38D. So I'm not small, but I'm not huge. I feel uncomfortable in certain clothes and I think it's because I'm not choosing things that fit my body type. So what do you think would fit my body type? (if you have any advice on swim-wear as well that'd be great.)

I would go with a pattern tankini. This will be attractive, but hide any "pooch". Lands End has some nice suits. I have always done well with their suits...and they last a long time.

Need more info. Are you hippy? Do you have a long torso? Short torso? Long legs? Are you apple shaped? Are you pear shaped? Are you a ruler? Are you an hourglass? Is there an area of your body you aren't comfortable with?

And what kind of clothes suggestions are you looking for? Summer wear? Winter clothes? Tanks, t-shirts, dresses, etc?

Not trying to be creepy, but we really can't help until we see your body. A front and side profile in something fitted, identity hidden as you wish, would convey all the information that others have asked for and more.

This says nothing.

A 12 or 14 based upon what? Pattern sizing? American vanity sizing? European sizing? I'll take a gander by the 38D that you're not talking about pattern sizing, but still.

What are your actual measurements? Bust, natural waist, navel, hips, neck. That will give a much better picture of what your actual body looks like. It would probably also help to get a basic torso and/or pants inseam measurement.

Sort of. I mean I'm usually not picky about my clothes. I don't like clothes that are too revealing.

Short torso, long legs, hourglass, not comfortable with my stomach.

12 or 14 based on American sizing.

Bust:42"
Waist:36"
Hips:46"
Neck:15"
Torso:16"
Inseam:32"

My camera is busted so as soon as I get a pic like that I'll post it. Thanks.

I have a similar shape/size and I love Maurices. I also lean towards flow-y shirts, but because I'm also short waisted the cinch drops too low and look odd in the tummy area. If you're going to go with flow-y shirts, make sure it's cinched under the bust (and not near the belly-button) and also make sure it's not too short in length (makes hips look wider). Also try to avoid those shirts that cinch at the end of the shirt (around the hips)...the flow-y fabric makes the tummy look lumpy even if it's not.

Maxi dresses are popular right now, and with an hourglass shape you could even use a belt to cinch the waist to show off your curves. Hourglass shapes can wear dresses really, really well. Since you have long legs, try to avoid longer capris that cut you off in a weird spot too close to your feet.
