I love Noxema...best tingly clean way to wash my face. I currently have Target's Up and Up house brand deep cleansing cream that is essentially Noxema in a tube.
My dad still wears Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum...such an old-school, guy's guy scent.
I remember going to a birthday/slumber party when I was 9 or 10 and being so grossed out by Noxzema . Being silly girls, of course we had to do the whole "beauty" routine. As a vegetarian who came from a household where everything was cruelty- and animal product-free, I'd never used Noxzema. It's not like I lived in a bubble and wasn't aware that the whole cruelty-free thing was not a priority for most people, but I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that they would intentionally cover their faces with this product that was made with gelatin and stearic acid. Ewww! I think if I ever smell Noxzema again, I'll probably have flashbacks.
When i was a kid i was told that Jello is made from horse hooves and that they go around slicing the feet off of horses so the company can make jello for me to eat. Whether it was true or not didnt matter to me because i loves me some jello.

I have some really mixed feelings on animal testing. I buy cruelty-free items. But I also have friends in graduate school that test on animals. How can I ever resolve this?
Oh and where they do the animal testing? 8 levels of security to get in the building, in case people want to stage protests or whatever.
What a fun thread!!! Brings back a lot of memories. My parents had a dimestore that I also worked in and we carried a lot of the inexpensive brands. I can just see me straightening and stocking the counter. It was one of my favorite duties -- a lot more fun than restacking the men's overhauls!
Remember Prell shampo....super sudsy. Remember the cream deodorants... Yuk.also the cake mascara.
I LOVE Prell! Did it ever have a conditioner? I still see the shampoo in the store and always want to buy it but don't want to without conditioner. I still have Noxema. Loves Baby Soft was my first perfume.
Then I had some stuff from Jovan I think. Some kind of a musk maybe?
I hated roll-on deoderant/antiperspirants! Remember having to flap your arms like a chicken to get your armpits to dry?
I still use Ban Roll On -- any rubbing of a solid causes folliculitis. Nasty and painful. I dry my pits with a blow dryer.
