Are we "putting on a display" in "a state of undress"? Because if so I think it's totally natural that they stare and we really should keep our mouths shut about it or learn to dress more appropriately.

I don't want anyone staring at me period.

The post wasn't directed at me, but I'd say a woman dressed like this isn't doing it just because 'she likes the clothes'. Only reason she would like the clothes is because they would get her the male attention she's looking for. You can debate it all you want, but as a woman myself I refuse to believe a woman dressing in a provocative outfit does it just because she likes the clothes and does not expect men looking. No one is that naive.

obviously these are just some extreme examples, not many women go around dressed like that, but just to show the point...

Theres staring and then theres staring some men over do it, shows a lack of class IMO and comes across to the woman as creepy. Esp if he is lacking in the looks department himself. I prefer to be more subtle.

UnexpectedError, I think you're "stuck" on seeking photos of examples. Maybe someone else will comply with your request.

That shouldn't matter. If a woman dresses a certain way that will attract attention, she's gotta expect the Quasimodos as well as the George Clooneys to look at her.

This is the same logic rapists use. "Well if she wasn't interested in having sex, why was she dressed so sexy?!" Of course ogling and sexual assault are two very different things, but you're using the same exact justification.
Unfortunately, in many ways, it's society hasn't totally progressed beyond the fetishistic association of nudity with sex of the Victorian era. Flesh, especially the bare apparition of certain body parts, still elicits a sexual response among men. I doubt this is as pronounced among so primitive tribes-people who are naked or near-naked most of the time. I read an article by a feminist author about how the breast fetish is largely a 'learned' response (not to say that breasts do not have any sexual function whatsoever, of course) in that we are conditioned from a young age to see breasts as rude and private. The same goes for the buttocks or, in the Victorian era even shoulders or ankles.

Anyway, in this society, women have the freedom to wear what they want but there's no law against men ogling. I guess the old adage 'look but don't touch' holds true here. Sure, some women actually do it for attention, and then pretend to get offended when they get the attention they secretly feed on, but you're right, I'm sure many just feel it's comfortable/want to freedom to wear what they want without feeling vulnerable.

Agree. I never stare or ogle at someone in a conspicuous manner, even if it's a hot bombshell wearing a short skirt/dress/hot pants and a low cut top...unless it's from a safe distance, from a secure hiding spot .

But I always thought man who stared up women's skirts and stuff were a bit dirty. Anyone over the age of about 16 who still does that probably jerks off to posters of pop stars in their bedroom in their parent's house.

There is a difference between attractive and cheap. If you have a perfect body of the slender sort you can 'get away' with a lot more. There are some women who are really chunky and should really know better. But maybe they are looking for a relationship and as a previous poster said, this is all they have to offer.

In my neighborhood there is a high school in which a LOT of young girls wear 'the uniform' which partially consists of skin tight jeans. Most look pretty from the front. I'll bet none has looked, straight on, at their reflection from the back, though. Not so pretty any more. You really should have a perfect body to avoid looking bad in these things.

In that school tight jeans is the culture (as mentioned by a prior poster). I don't think the boys their age who are used to seeing girls this way have the same impression as a guy passing by in a truck.

A normal person dresses appropriately for the public who will be seeing her. Those who are under dressed often just look needy and desperate.
I think you can safety say that women who dress in skimpy, revealing clothing in near freezing weather are not dressed for comfort.

I mean nobody is questioning that some, perhaps a large percentage, of young girls, young women and even some older women (either those who want to rather tragically hang on to their youth or those or who've got it so they can flaunt it) do it for the male attention, which makes them feel important. It's a sad indictment on society that people feel so disenfranchised they have to resort to this. The irony is, this makes them feel more miserable as they realise the men are just admiring their nice ass, not that sweet, kind, caring person they may be on the inside.
