It's nice if it's done right. I live in Florida so feet are always exposed here, year round. There are some salons that have the whole French Pedi thing down. A thin strip makes nails look neat and trimmed.
Even a thin strip still gives the toenail the look of added length...not something I'd see as desirable.
A gazillion years ago when I went through beauty school, a French manicure was completely different and it looked natural and very pretty. These days, having a big white line painted on your fingernail looks stupid IMHO. For toes? forget about it.

I agree with you.
I get an "american tip" on my fingers which is not that stark white line painted on the nail. It looks VERY natural because they use a clear base and a buff color for the tip.
I remember reading on one blog that the OP loved them on feet rather than hands. I tried it out myself once and I thought she was crazy. Such a look makes the feet look artificial, and like other posters have said, the nails are too long/wide to work. Otherwise a strip would be too thin/thick. It's very hard to make it look good.
They do provide an upside over hands, though: they last longer. Then again, all pedicures do that because you don't do much except walk.
I agree with you - but I think we must be the only two people out here who don't like them. French pedi's are everywhere.
I think, as you, that the toenail's just look too long or ARE too long in order to achieve the effect.
I am with you. I think long toenails are gross.
French manis are OK.
