Well, I am obviously a white person, but I have no idea what tone my skin is... =/ I prefer cool colors and turquoises, purples, magenta, blue, etc. I cannot wear oranges, greens, yellows, etc....

You are probably cool toned. If you look more pink or even bluish on the underside of your wrist, you are cool. Warm people look golden, yellow or orangey.

Or Neutral. I love cool jewel tones and a few pastels, and while I look "cool", in makeup if I go cool, I look red. With neutral, I look normal. And while I don't like warm colors, I look just fine in gold jewelry and some warm colors. Yellow however is gross on me. And I don't like yellow. so it all works out...

Hmmm I am warm. But I am also dark. A blogger that looks about my tone said she has nutella complexion, so I am definitely stealing that. Silver looks fine on me. But I think it is because of all of the contrast. I tends to just go for brights!
I almost never wear gold jewelry. I find it too "shiny" for me. So I go for muted golds or mixed metals. Or silver. It is likely a holdout from childhood. My fave color was grey with purple and pink alternating for backup.
The undertones are important. I think for a while, there was an assumption that anyone my complexion had to be "cool" toned. But many of us are actually warm!
Makeup-wise, I definitely need the warms. I haven't tried the neutrals, but the cools look awful.
For me the colors that work the best are: white, cream, gold, pinks (all), orange especially peachy colors, purples especially lavender, all shades of green except olive/hunter, must blues except powder or baby blue, most reds except for dark burgundy shades, camel/tans, chocolate brown (accessories are critical to the look) and always black.
I usually get a lot of compliments when I wear creams/white, pinks, peachy colors or lavender.
Most colors look great and it is quite subjective. I love to see dark skinned people in reds, whites, pastels
