It's a term in fashion and marketing, which uses idealistic standards normally (size 2, 6 ft tall, etc.)

The term "real woman" is when they use normal women (short or anything not standard skinny model).

I actually think of it as a term used to lash out against thinner women. Sort of like the whole "skinny bi*ches are evil" campaign started by Monique.

I have never heard the term used to describe hefty women,never.
I think it has something to do with the whole package physical as well the mindset.

Think of the term "Real Man" has nothing to do with weight.

Exactly! My point being, larger, heavier women are claiming to be the "real women" ei, "better" and more desirable than thin women. In reality, many are just fat and need to justify.

Size doesn't matter! A "real" woman is one who is happy with herself, feminine and a true lady. Any female can be a woman. That's merely a gender. It takes a special one to be a lady.
