Not to say that things aren't SLOWLY changing (more like a ripple against a tide) and there aren't exceptions, but as a whole, the average Joe is so seldom portrayed as sexy compared to women.
Because Beckam crotch shots is just not happening fast enough for some.

That really affects BMR in a big way.
That Fitbit dude I was talking about? His wife works her ASS OFF and has for YEARS. She watches every single thing that goes in her mouth. And he just up and decides to do it for a few months and catches up with her in hotness...I mean, WTF?!
That is true. I mean women can have sculpted bodies (e.g. Miss Olympia etc) but it just takes extra work.
Although I don't actually speak for any other men, to put it into numbers, I'd say that the gripe from men is, when looking at the general population:
A man's body must be in the top 10% of all men's bodies to be considered "Hot" (elite athlete, model, etc), all else falls into average/boring/unexciting to women.
A woman's body can fall into the top 40% of all women's bodies to be considered "Hot" by men. Simply better than average. This large range allows for many different shapes, sizes, and heights. When looking at a woman's body, men are way more open minded about height (at 5"11", I like anything between 5'0 & 5'10).
Don't focus so much on the numbers because they're totally debatable, but my point is that a guy's body has to truly stand out or else he gets thrown into the average category, women not so much.

I think it's kind of accultured too. I don't think the preference for meatheads has always been the case. Toned but lean, I think, should be the ideal. Practical and athletic. Why the preference for Jersey shore type Hulks?
My theory is that it's more related to power than actually appreciating the male form for WHAT IT IS. Like models in men's mags, they're trying to warp our ideas of the 'normal male figure' into something different.
I know a lot of women who do look at pictures of naked men for sexual thrills (male masturbation, too); but, no, I doubt if they're all looking at hardcore pornography (some do, but probably not most). Every woman is different (some women are asexual), just like there are men who rarely, if ever, view pornography. Women are also taught from a young age that they are not to be sexually aggressive. That all plays into women appearing less "visually-stimulated." Though I would argue any day of the week that women in general are just as titillated visually with nude men, but with one big difference: women have an easy "turn-off" switch.
Women are not more beautiful than men; it's just a different kind of beauty: feminine vs. masculine. Both are sexy and complement each other perfectly. Men who say that are doing nothing more than contradicting their true feelings to hide their jealously and subscribe to a homophobic mindset to appease others. No man in his right mind truly wants to be sexually unattractive. But in the next breath, men will comment on a colleague's muscular physique at the gym, or a well-endowed stud in a porno movie (pornography is full of naked men in every sense of the word).
Men, where are your heads? You say one thing and do the total opposite. Must I add that there are beauty pageants for men? They're called bodybuilder competitions. And WWE men are nothing more than male strippers in mere g-strings wrestling each other. And, men, you all watch pornography, which is full of naked men right in your face. So what gives? Well, these contexts have been arbitrarily legitimized and straight male viewership for naked and scantily-clad males. It's not as if women are the big-time viewers of porn, WWE, and bodybuilding contests.
You see, men don't find the ideal male form inferior to women's at all. It's just that when jealously and homophobia rear their ugly heads in certain contexts (Magic Mike, etc), men play the "men are ugly/men are gross" card. But secretly, they all want to be that stud with a big member with that WWE physique.
There have been attempts to quash any admiration for male beauty in our society, but it's growing exponentially. Men just won't have it any other way.
The truth is that there are so many different preferences people have for what is attractive or not that you'll never have 100% agreement. Society may regard women's bodies as more beautiful than men's, but there are still plenty of women (or gay guys) who like men's bodies, so I wouldn't worry about it!

Men can like their own bodies, too (narcissism)! Why do you think they go shirtless and show off their muscles all the time... Speedos are still too demeaning for a society where its males only watch large members on screens. If they'd cut the porn addiction and get in reality, some men would be more comfortable in them. Don't forget, either, that men with nice physiques - which is ALL subjective - try to make other men feel jealously even more so than to attract women at times...
I don't agree with the French idea of the "le beau sexe", as I consider my gender just as beautiful as its female counterpart. But, I would agree that most men and women are very unattractive.
its imo thought that a male who takes care of himself (dressing well, primping, grooming, etc) is possibly to likely gay while a "real man" has thick body hair, scars, ingrown hairs, body acne, smells of sweat, burps, farts, and bathes maybe once a week. This "this or that" game is imo why the male body isnt desirable; because its either a choice of a gay male that just doesnt do anything for a female or a "real man" (as described) thats repulsive.

I don't think the average man is that disgusting, while I agree that some do meet your description.
Have you ever looked at a lot of women these days? They're catching up with gross men.
There are gay men who do not have good hygiene, either. n fact, there are a subset of "bears" in the gay community who never wear deodorant with tons of body hair to sweat in.
Well, in Greek and Roman times it can be argued that their appreciation of the male form was as high and possible higher than that of the female form. Look at any of the statues at that era and you would agree.
I really like the female form but in reality the Average American female form resembles Rosey O'donnel or Oprah and not Kim k.
