In my opinion, that is a stunning woman. Actually I like Barbara Stanwyck when she was older, too, I just usually didn't care for her hairstyles later on.
Homely is homely. So is yucky teeth not taken care of (back then) and flabby bodies. Most curvy women today are firm. You could bounce a quarter off their buns.
Linda looks more natural than Raquel.
Raquel looks like she might have had Plastic surgery.

Curvy has nothing to do with firmness or flabbiness
You are either curvy or not.

You missed the point. Those 20's pics are so obvious those women never worked out a day in their life. Just not eating doesn't count. You can tell who hits the treadmill and pumps iron. Modern curvy is hot. 20's curvy isn't to me. Those late teens early twenties girls have worse bodies than women two, three or even four times their age nowdays.

I don't think any people really worked out in the 20's, but since I am not from then, I am not quite sure. I don't think there is anything wrong with their bodies, and I am quite sure that there bodies are probably what the men from the twenties were pleased with.
Pear, I think to get curls they must have used pin curls. When I was in cosmetology school a million years, that is one of the first things we had to learn to perfect. Pin curls and finger waves. Then we had to be able to do roller settings. The basics came first, and those were the basics.
